In principle, a transfer of undertaking should not have any negative impact on the continuation of employment with the transferee. The book examines in detail the definition and the scope of a transfer of undertaking as an economic entity which preserves its identity. This is followed by the safeguards for the preservation of employment such as the principle of automatic transfer of employment contracts from the transferor to the transferee, as well as the protec- tion against dismissals.
