Administrative detention per se constitutes an aggravating factor for the general condition of any human being, and this is true both in the case of a person currently detained, where his or her present physical and mental condition is affected and in the case of a person who has had a previous experi- ence of a similar situation. In the case of asylum seekers, administrative detention plays an additional role related to the presentation and support of their claim.
