Introduction to Criminal Procedure - 2nd ed. Professor Dr. Christos Satlanis School of Law, European University Cyprus ISBN 978-960-654-191-9 Abstract: Criminal Procedure is a field of law which, unlike Criminal Law, is very dif- ficult to understand by Students. The main reason for this is the fact that they are invited to learn, study and assimilate a subject, which requires experiences and representations of years on the procedural terms, which are acquired only through the courts’ rooms and corridors, and mainly by the handling and the processing of documents. So many procedural rules, so many procedural steps and so many procedural bodies can not be captured and permanently stored as concepts in the beginners’ legal thinking unless there has been an elementary friction with the act of the criminal courts. Students therefore need a handbook that will be first of all rich in examples and will explain the concepts without unnecessary formalities. This work is alsomoving in this direction. It is important for the student to know from the outset what exactly the law defines and what the writer’s interpretative approaches are.The purpose of the present is to provide, based on its characteristics and distinct physiognomy, the basic knowledge of Criminal Procedure with a combination of Le- galTheory , the Supreme Court’s case law and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights, so that the Students are able to cope with the act immediately after obtaining their degree in Legal Science.
