Tourism Law - 3rd. ed. Dimitrios Mylonopoulos Professor, University of West Attica ISBN 00000 Abstract: Tourism constitutes a diverse social phenomenon with very important economic, cultural and environmental dimensions, and is governed by a variety of legal rules. In the Greek legal system, tourism law is formed by three main pillars, namely the Law 2160/1993“Tourism and other provisions”, the Law 4276/2014“Sim- plification of operating procedures of tourismenterprises and tourist infrastructures, special forms of tourism and other provisions” and the Law 4582/2018 “Thematic tourism - Special forms of tourism…”. In the field of tourism, the current institutional framework refers to four main areas of tourist activity, as follows: a) public authori- ties, at the national, regional and local level, and their role and responsibility in the creation of conditions favorable to sustainable development in tourism, b) tourist enterprises (e.g.transportation,accommodationetc),c)special (orthematic)tourism infrastructure facilities (e.g. ski resorts, mountain shelters, golf courses, tourist ports) and d) alternative forms of tourism or thematic tourism (e.g. rural tourism, sports tourism, maritime tourism, religious tourism etc.).
