During the last de- cades, the EU legislation contributed in developing a national legal framework in order to protect and conserve the natural and human environment and everything it consists of.The book starts by providing a formal definition of the environment, as well as the general principles of environmental law and the consistutional recogni- tion of the right in the environment. The book then examines the legal framework for environmental licensing of projects and activities, as well as for the protection of the elements of the natural and the human environment, such as forests, biodiver- sity, landscape, archaeological zones, historical landscape and cultural heritage. The book further provides the context of the national spatial planning and urban plan- ning law and of the law of the unauthorised building. Finally, the book examines the EU environmental legislation and the legal framework for the environmental legal protection in administrative, civil and penal level. COPYRIGHT All rights reserved.
