Abstract:
The second edition of Insurance Law, published three years after the
widely acclaimed first edition, is a thoughtful work addressing various issues
arising in the context of Greek and European Insurance Law. Emphasis is given
to recent amendments introduced under Greek Law No. 4364/2016, following
the transposition of Directive 2009/138/EU on the taking-up and pursuit of the
business of Insurance and Reinsurance (Solvency II) into national law. This vol-
ume incorporates an in-depth doctrinal and practical analysis of the said law as
well as of issues relating, inter alia, to general insurance contract law, the new
“Insurance Distribution Directive” (IDD) (to be transposed into national law until
23.2.2018), indemnity insurance law and other important issues relating to In-
surance Law. This edition, which includes detailed references to recent case law
and literature along with a general index of terms, embodies its author’s ambition
to provide a complete and useful handbook for insurance companies, scholars,
judges, lawyers and anyone studying or practicing in the relevant field.
