Quasi legal entities as subjects of rights and obligations
Konstantinos D. Panagopoulos
Abstract: The ability to be the subject of rights and obligations is awarded
by law to humans and to legal entities. In exceptional cases, however, said
ability must also be acknowledged, to a limited extent, to certain entities
which may lack legal personality, yet they enjoy functional independence
(autonomy, name, purpose and legal activity to accomplish it). Said entities
may be composed by associations of persons or groups of property and are
characterized herein as “quasi” legal persons. This term describes their hybrid
status, being on the borderline between a person and a simple association or
property.
