Abstract: The search for systems to support the application of meritocracy in the
recruitment and career development of civil servants formed part of a broader
debate on the reform of the Public Administration. This study investigates the
methods, the procedures and the criteria introduced by the Greek legislator on
various occasions in order to regulate the entry of civil servants in the Public
Administration and the development of their careers.
