The difference in income-expenses shows that the Justice System is

burdened with

an additional cost of € 309 per case

every time someone resorts to Justice for as-

sistance. The above amount also includes the maintenance cost of the rehabilitation

system, whereas, if this is not taken into account, the respective cost is reduced to €

187 per case.

In view of the above, the task of conferring justice has a high Ànancial cost for the

State and the citizens, which is, no doubt, warranted and necessary, given that the

function of Justice in achieving and maintaining social cohesion and peace is most im-

portant. However, particularly during periods of economic crisis, a rational restruc-

turing of the judicial system is required so that operational costs and man-hours are

optimized as much as possible to produce satisfactory results.
