Eugenia Alexandropoulou-Egyptiadou
Professor of I.T. Law Department of Applied Informatics,
University of Macedonia
The personal data protection is of paramount importance in our days, due
to the limitless technological possibilities of their processing. This book
presents and evaluates the legal framework of personal data protection in
Greece and the European Union. It consists of two parts: the first one deals
with the Hellenic legal framework on the subject; the second one presents
the evolution of legislative efforts in the E.U. The study is supplemented by
two Annexes, featuring the basic relative legislation in force, as well as useful
application forms suggested by the Hellenic Data Protection Authority. The
author, Eugenia Alexandropoulou-Egyptiadou, is currently Professor of I.T.
Law at the Department of Applied Informatics of the University of Macedonia
(Thessaloniki, Greece), founder of the I.T. Law Scientific Group (www.itlaw.
uom.gr) and Director of the Interinstitutional/Interdepartmental Programme
of Postgraduate Studies in «Law and Informatics». Since 2002 she works
mainly in the field of personal data protection and has published widely on
many aspects of the area.
