Abstract:
This book examines the development of the legal instrument of parole,
the ongoing legislative and case-law advances at both national and international
level, the role of parole boards and probation services, particularly with regard to
Correctional Science and Applied Criminology practices. Adequate measures and
solutions are proposed in order to enhance the protection of prisoners’ rights and
at the same time establish the most secure alternative sentencing framework that
parole can possibly offer.
