The birth of Criminology

Abstract:
The main subject is the basic criminological theories during 19th
century with emphasis to the Italian Positive School which played a crucial role
to the foundation of Criminology as a science. There is also a concise review
of theories until 19th century and a distinguished reference to 18th century
as it is prepared subsequent theoretical and empirical developments. The
necessity of Criminology’s historical approach is revealed and basic reactions
to Lombroso’s theories and generally Italian Positive School’s principles are
presented.
